At Anco precision we understand the importance of ingenuity and product development. We can assist product designers who use their skills and creativity to develop ideas for new and useful products. The designer conjures up ideas for new products and puts them to the test. Anco machining can then help make these ideas reality. Their job is to use art, technology and the sciences to create useable 3-D products.
Since the early 90’s when the computer age expanded, product designers have been able to use software and computer aided drawing programs to assist with their conceptual ideas. Some of these break-through designs would have been nearly impossible to conceptualize just 20 years ago. The field of industrial design is commonly confused with product design but remain totally different professions. Product designers can use a wide array of materials to create their first generation, original products and Anco precision machining can work with any of them. Nearly every industry in the U.S. has some sort of product design as a step in the manufacturing process. Before a new product can be made it must first be thoroughly analyzed and broken down by product designers to ensure the safety and quality of the goods.
Many first run production models of new inventions and products are created using plastics and various types and colors of modeling clays which are then sent to machining shop (like Anco) for final production. These easily recycled and pliable substances allow for the product designers to tweak and change original design to better ensure quality and costs. Many models are never even physically made but end up as computer, 3-D models. The ones who pass the test will finally be put into first run production and tested by the designers themselves.
Product design has come a long way from its start during the industrial revolution. As the need for more efficient machining took hold so did the need for new product lines and models to be marketed to the now consuming public. Since then product designers have become the ‘imagineers’ of tomorrow, taking their wild and crazy ideas by not only putting them to paper but also into real life. Many of the new ideas put forth in product designs stem from the need to fix a problem or to make an already existing idea more efficient and cost effective (as in changing material used or size of the objects).
As more and more technology is discovered we will see an exponential jump in the need for product designers. The 21st century has seen the largest number of new products available on the market for purchase. This fact alone is enough to prove that the product design industry will be alive and well for decades to come which means Anco machining will be there to help.
