Toys & games can be any object that can be used for play. Toys are usually associated with pets and kids while games can be played as adults. There are different types of adult toys but that is a totally different subject. Many things are made to serve as toys & games, but goods produced for other purposes can also be used. For example, parents by a new refrigerator and the kids drop all other toys and play with the box for months on end until it falls apart. Or, dogs might play keep away from each other with a stick by, biting it, chasing it, or simply tossing it around. The idea of toys & games is prehistoric. Dolls representing babies, various animals, soldiers and men and women have been found at thousands of archeological dig sites around the globe. The origin of the word "toy" is lost to the pages of history however some historians believe that it was first used some time in the 14th century. Toys & games are important when dealing with the growing up and learning of small children all over the world. These toys and games allow them to figure out about the strange and sometimes scary world around them.

Toy & games not only help children to find identity but they also serve as important teachers for socialization and rule following. Adults use toys and play to strengthen social bonds, teach, to reinforce life lessons, to re-discover their identity, exercise the mind and body and to explore relationships. It has been observed that all species of baby mammals take part in some forms of games and play. The things we consider to be games and toys have no doubt changed with the times. Rocks and sticks were among the most common toys for kids thousands of years ago. Then we had the rubber ducky and die cast metal cars and trucks.

Now we see kids and adults alike with hand help video game systems and skate and surfboards. Toys can also reinforce existing gender roles held inside of a particular society or culture. Children are like sponges and soak up everything around them. We actually use toys & games to teach or children right from wrong. As long as there are human beings on this planet they will no doubt be partaking in games and playing toys.
